After the launch of the surgical microscope last September more and more clinical sites are opting for the new OPMI® VARIO 700. One example is the Everett Bone & Joint Surgery Center, which was able to significantly expand its therapeutic capabilities with this surgical microscope.
JENA – 20 April 2011. – The new OPMI® VARIO 700 surgical microscope is being very well received by customers. Dr. John Pryor of the Everett Bone & Joint Surgery Center, USA, is one of the first users of the OPMI VARIO 700.
“We used to do one spine case a week here with arthroscopy. Now, with the OPMI VARIO 700 we do considerably more, upwards of six to eight spine surgeries a week”, says Dr. Pryor.
Dr. John Pryor is expanding his treatment spectrum with OPMI VARIO 700.
“I currently use OPMI VARIO 700 for vertebral and spine disk surgeries but hope to use it for cervical spine fusions and peripheral nerve repair in the future“.
The usage of surgical microscopes like the OPMI VARIO 700 is an integral component of neurosurgical training. Many orthopedic surgeons, on the other hand, still do not use a microscope. Nevertheless, Dr. Pryor believes in the benefits of the Carl Zeiss technology. “In my opinion you cannot compare the visualization and comfort of working with a surgical microscope with loupes or anything else,” says Dr. Pryor. “The improvement in visualization and comfort cannot be overstated.”
“So far, it has been a very positive experience with the OPMI VARIO 700,” says Dr. Pryor. He continues: “The large focusing range is very helpful for my work. The OPMI VARIO 700 gives me the optics, light source and working distances I need at a reasonable price.”
