ISee3D Teams Up With Hamilton Thorne to Showcase First Single Lens, Single Sensor 3D Microscope Adaptor at ASRM Annual Meeting
ISee3D Brings State-of-the-Art 3D Technology to Leading Manufacturer of Cell Biology Research Instruments
TORONTO—October 17, 2011 — ISee3D Inc. (TSX-V: ICT), developer of single lens3D technology, announces that it will partner with Hamilton Thorne Inc., provider of advanced laser systems for regenerative medicine, fertility and stem cell research markets, to showcase the world’s first single lens, single sensor 3D microscope adaptor at this year’s American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.
“ISee3D’s single lens technology provides 3D capabilities that are more efficient and flexible as well as less cumbersome than the traditional two-lens approach,” says Diarmaid Douglas-Hamilton, CTO and cofounder of Hamilton Thorne Ltd. “We are very pleased to collaborate with them on this technological breakthrough.”
By using a microscope equipped with the 3D adaptor, medical researchers will be able to view cells as clear and accurate 360-degree images, allowing for greater precision in medical procedures and research. The adapter is designed to work with current 2D microscopes, expanding the availability of 3D viewing within labs both nationally and internationally. Originally developed for use in medical applications, ISee3D’s single lens, single camera 3D technology has potential for many applications across a wide range of industries, including consumer electronics and the automotive sector.
“As a longtime provider of 3D technology to the healthcare industry, ISee3D is excited to work alongside Hamilton Thorne on a tool that will allow researchers to quickly and easily view an entire cell, rather than relying on an incomplete 2D image,” says Tom Mitchell, CEO of ISee3D. “With this product, ISee3D and Hamilton Thorne Ltd. are providing a solution that dramatically increases efficiency and accuracy while also reducing the cost of replacing existing 2D devices.”
ISee3D and Hamilton Thorne Inc. will screen laboratory footage created with the 3D-enabled microscope at the ASRM Annual Meeting, booth #2525, October 15-19, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
