Full Benefits of White Light Confocal Microscopy Revealed
Microscopy Webinar Recording – Now Available
Belfast, 21 April 2010 – A webinar explaining how white-light, spinning disk confocal microscopy can be used to great effect for high-resolution, cost-effective live-cell imaging is now available online. The webinar, produced by Andor Technology (Andor), also gives an overview of Imaris, the best 3D and 4D visualisation software available today.
White-light, spinning disk confocal systems like Andor’s new Revolution® DSD (Differential Spinning Disk) scanners deliver image quality comparable to a traditional laser-point scanning confocal microscope at moderate light levels. But, because the system uses white light, it’s far less expensive and far easier to maintain.
Dr. Mark Browne, Director of Systems Division with Andor, explained in his recent webinar how this new system delivers high-performance live-cell imaging at a competitive price and how its working mode compares with conventional point scanning. He also explained how the Revolution® DSD system’s patented optical techniques are used to reject out-of-focus light.
When to use widefield and confocal microscopy, and when to choose an EMCCD camera over a CCD camera, is also covered in the online seminar.
Dr. Mark Browne said: “I designed this webinar for the increasing number of life science researchers using confocal microscopy, especially those considering purchasing a budget confocal system this year”.
A recorded version of this webinar is freely available at www.andor.com/learning/multimedia
