Applied Precision Mobile Cellular Imaging Lab Brings Advanced Microscopy Solutions to Colleges and Universities
ISSAQUAH, Wash., April 20th, 2011 – Applied Precision is sending its mobile Cellular Imaging Lab on an educational journey to college campuses around the United States.
The Applied Precision Cellular Imaging Lab is housed on a specially designed 40-foot coach bus. The lab is equipped with Applied Precision’s DV Elite™ with TruLight™ and personalDV™ microscopy imaging systems along with a small lab. There is also a special touch screen education section on the bus that highlights the groundbreaking DeltaVision OMX V4™ super-resolution imaging systems.
Applied Precision’s Cellular Imaging Lab acts as a traveling microscopy workshop and learning center for scientists and students. Visitors can image their own samples on advanced imaging equipment and learn the fundamentals of light microscopy techniques. Access to the bus is free and the focus is on education.
The DV Elite is the newest member of the DeltaVision high-resolution microscopy family. The DV Elite incorporates a revolutionary light path design called TruLight, which provides outstanding imaging performance particularly for live cell work.
The DeltaVision OMX V4 is a three dimensional, super-resolution microscopy system that more than doubles the optical resolution of traditional light microscopy. This super-resolution capability is especially important to cell biologists and microbiologists seeking to study objects and events that lie beyond the limits of conventional microscopy imaging methods.
“The Cellular Imaging Lab is just one way we reach out to scientists, researchers and students in the field,” says Joseph Victor, president and CEO of Applied Precision. “Applied Precision supports a variety of educational events and workshops worldwide each year, but the Cellular Imaging Lab gives researchers the opportunity to test our latest imaging instruments on their own doorstep.”
The Applied Precision Cellular Imaging Lab will leave Seattle in April and will return home in the summer. The spring schedule includes the following stops:
May 03-05, 2011 – Auburn University, Auburn, AL
May 09-10, 2011 – University of South Florida, Tampa, FL
May 11-12, 2011 – University of Florida, Gainesville, FL
May 18-20, 2011 – Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
