
Andor Technology Announce Judges for the Insight Awards Imaging Competitio
Belfast, Northern Ireland, 31 August 2010 – Andor Technology today announced the judges for the first ever Andor Insight Awards image and spectra competition. The panel is made up of world renowned researchers in the fields of physical and life sciences reflecting the competition’s goal of recognising the cutting edge research conducted by scientists using Andor Technology and Bitplane products. The judges will be evaluating each image based on several factors including the entries scientific significance and visual impact.
The judges for the competition are:
• Professor Andrzej Pigulski – Astronomical Institute, University of Wroclaw.
• Professor Don Pollacco – Group leader of SuperWASP, Queens University Belfast.
• Dr Eduardo Rosa-Molinar – Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Puerto Rico.
• Dr Xuejun Sun – Division of Experimental Oncology, Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta.
• Professor Tony Wilson – Professor of Engineering Science and Fellow of Hertford College at the University of Oxford.
Due to popular demand the deadline for the awards has been extended to the 12.00 midnight BST on the 14 September 2010. Submissions can include images, spectra, graphics and movies with the overall winner receiving a top of the range PC (Alienware or MAC). Researchers and their entries will benefit from additional publicity surrounding the competition in relevant trade publications.
